Whelgar's Excavation Site

Whelgar's Excavation Site lies east of Menethil Harbor and southwest of Dun Modr in the Wetlands. Once a peaceful dwarven digsite, it was overrun by mottled raptors. A small group of dwarves once resided here but has since evacuated to the nearby Whelgar's Retreat.
Paleolithic Elementals and Living Fossils, as well as the named Sarltooth (formerly alive and a quest objective, now a rare spawn), roam the area. Prospector Whelgar himself has abandoned the site for a camp just off the main road, complete with a flight path.it has been taken over by mottled raptors. A small group of dwarves are now trapped on a ridge overlooking the dig site.
Pre-Cataclysm
The area was formerly inhabited by normal raptors and contained several quest givers:
