  • Earned for defeating the most recent raid bosses or completing heroic Dungeon Finder runs and used to purchase the most powerful PvE armor and weapons.
  • Total Maximum: 3000
  • Weekly Maximum: 1000

Valor Points are the upper-level currency awarded for participating in PvE encounters, typically raids and heroic dungeons in the current expansion. The lower-level PvE currency, [Justice Points], is awarded from normal and heroic dungeons, and some older raids. Items sold for Valor Points are available from Commander Oxheart at Niuzao Temple in Townlong Steppes and all of the Pandarian faction quartermasters.

Rewards

Valor Point rewards have been added in every major patch of Mists of Pandaria, with items added in earlier patches being updated to cost less valor as newer patches are added.

Currently, all item level 489 items (added in Patch 5.0) cost 675/875/1125 Valor Points, down from 1250/1750/2250 Valor Points, all item level 496 items (added in Patch 5.1 and the Kirin Tor Offensive/Sunreaver Onslaught items in Patch 5.2) cost 937/1112 Valor Points, down from 1250/1750 Valor Points, and all item level 522 items (Shado-Pan Assault items added in Patch 5.2) are full price, costing 1250/1750/2250 Valor Points.

Patch 5.2

All valor point items added in Patch 5.2 require some level of reputation with the Shado-Pan Assault or Kirin Tor Offensive / Sunreaver Onslaught. Reputation with the Shado-Pan is only gained in the Throne of Thunder raid dungeon on the Isle of Thunder, and the standing with the Alliance/Horde factions is gained from questing on the Isle of Thunder.

  • Hotfix (2012-10-01): "The reputation requirement to purchase certain pieces of Mists of Pandaria Valor Point gear have been reduced from Revered to Honored. These include:

  • MoP Patch 5.0.4 (2012-08-28): All current Valor Points converted to Justice Points. Old epic ilvl 397/"Valor" gear is now available for Justice Points at the same prices. The total Valor Points a character can hold is now capped at 3000. Valor of the Ancients added.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.3.0 (2011-11-29): All current Valor Points converted to Justice Points. Old epic ilvl 378/"Valor" gear is now available from the Justice Points vendor at the same prices. Weekly cap raised to 1000.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.2.0 (2011-06-28): All current Valor Points converted to Justice Points. Each point above the 4000 Justice Points cap will be converted to gold at a rate of 47s per point. Old epic ilvl 359/"Valor" gear is now available from the Justice Points vendor at the same prices. Weekly valor cap reduced from 1250 to 980.
  • Cataclysm Patch 4.0.1 (2010-10-12): Added.
