Since you're around[]

Do you have the originals of the WW Club seals (e.g., File:50000Club seal.png) that you could easily change to Wowpedia? --PcjWowpedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 01:34, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Oh sure. I totally forgot about those. I'm going to start looking around for image remnants of WoWWiki to replace or clean up. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 6:43 PM PST 7 Nov 2010

You don't happen to be working on 75k and 100k Club seals too? Winky --g0urra[T҂C] 18:02, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

I could make those, but who would be so insane as to have that many edits! ;-) --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 1:42 AM PST 12 Nov 2010
Well, if you look at mine, you'll see that I'm at over 75k edits. --g0urra[T҂C] 21:37, 12 November 2010 (UTC)

And about 11 months later, I broke the 100k milestone. You wouldn't happen to have a Club seal for that? Winky --g0urra[T҂C] 17:58, 7 October 2011 (UTC)

Your opinion is desired[]

Hello.

I just wanted to solicit your opinion on whether Instancefooter should replace {{Dungeons}}} or not.

Thanks.

Cataclysm stubs[]

Please don't use {{Stub/Cataclysm}} as the Shattering has already occurred. Thanks. --PcjWowpedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 01:17, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

I guess I don't understand how {{Stub/Cataclysm}} works and likely many others won't either. Here's what it says: "Please replace me with an appropriate stub from Category:Stubs after the expansion is released." Cataclysm isn't released yet, hence... --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 6:29 PM PST 29 Nov 2010
However, the changes caused by the Cataclysm have already affected most articles, including the ones you just tagged, which is why I brought it up. So for those purposes, Stub/Cataclysm is now deprecated. --PcjWowpedia wiki manager (TDrop me a line!C207,729 contributions and counting) 01:31, 30 November 2010 (UTC)
Change the stub text then. People can't read minds. Also, it isn't always easy to tell if an article is new for the Shattering, but will change slightly or alot with the release of Cataclysm.
I'll stop using the Cataclysm stub, because I don't care that much, but you should try to give more understandable instructions that don't conflict with what is stated in templates. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 6:58 PM PST 29 Nov 2010

Please see http://www.wowwiki.com/User_talk:Astranath#User_Talk_Pages. I was attempting to direct attention to your thread about what could be done to improve WoWWiki, and I was blocked by the paid contractor they have employed to astroturf WoWWiki. Thanks. Astranath (talk) 21:03, 8 December 2010 (UTC)

Patience. Things may change soon. Raylan13 is probably being told in vague terms what to do by other Wikia staff. Cut him some slack. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 4:24 PM PST 8 Dec 2010

WoWWiki games[]

You don't really think you'll win, do you?

Hahaha... Sorry. The Canadian guy put me in the mood for movie quotes. But seriously... What are you trying to prove? Stop being a shill for Wikia and pretending there's such a thing as a separate WoWWiki community! Just my 2 cents. No disrespect intended. --Oswald Cobblepot (talk) 11:41, 28 December 2010 (UTC)

Hmmm... something strange about "Stop being a shill for Wikia" and "No disrespect intended." They appear to contradict each other. Lets just say there is friction between me and some of the current admins at Wowpedia. Not that I need to explain myself to you or anybody. I am flattered that you think I matter of all the users on Wowpedia. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 12:39 PM PST 28 Dec 2010
I apologize for egging Mr Cobblepot on with my comments on his talk page. I didn't mean to cause trouble. If there is anything I can do to help smooth things over (though I can't imagine what), please let me know. Hopefully it gets sorted out soon. --Bellocois (talk) 21:12, 28 December 2010 (UTC)
No harm done. I'm still trying to figure out why people are so worried about where I contribute. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 4:09 PM PST 28 Dec 2010
I guess because people are still learning about the move and having someone give the false impression WoWWiki is active is perceived as harmful. I can see where someone would be mad if they spent their time trying to update a page only to learn it had been done elsewhere. On the other side, I'd also be frustrated if my hard work was enriching a company I loathed. I can't speak for the Penguin person though. --Bellocois (talk) 00:00, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Am I supposed to respond here or on my talk page? I'll do it here so you get the little notification thing.

It's not about "my" work or yours. I just don't understand why you'd want to waste your time. He's sort of right that I used the word shill because people who DON'T read MMO Champion and DON'T follow forums might think WoWWiki has a future. You only hurt those people by prolonging it. I'm mainly just confused. --Oswald Cobblepot (talk) 08:55, 29 December 2010 (UTC)

Your opinion. Doesn't count for much. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 11:45 AM PST 30 Dec 2010

Wowpedia article on wowwiki & related templates[]

Please read & respond to the Forum regarding Attribution. Ressy (talk) 21:09, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

I did. You may be disappointed. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 7:23 PM PST 5 Jan 2011

I know I have no way of stopping you, but I'd like to politely request that you not copy and paste my work to the old site. (The page I'm referring to is Arcane Pinnacle, which I just happened to notice.) My original message to "Oswald Cobblepot" was in response to this edit, which hopefully shows that I meant well. I didn't think he planned to troll you.

I am new and have never edited WoWWiki or followed its development until very recently. After I learned about the two-wiki situation in an offline discussion, I registered here because I believed what Wikia was doing was wrong and I wanted to help improve the new site to convince people to switch. I do know this request goes against the Wikipedia mantra and there's no practical way of simply excluding my edits, though in this case I am the only author as of this writing. Bellocois (talk) 05:34, 8 January 2011 (UTC)

I will honor your request, but I can't promise that others won't. You should however feel free to copy back the improvements and updates at Arcane Pinnacle to Arcane Pinnacle. --Gengar orange 22x22 Fandyllic (talk · contribs) 1:05 PM PST 10 Jan 2011
Thanks. You seem like a good person from what I've seen, and I do hope you come back. --Bellocois (talk) 22:49, 11 January 2011 (UTC)

WoWwiki on Wowpedia[]

I discovered that you were still active on wowwiki, and that you had as well some edits here. The particular page, WoWWiki seemed unsettlingly inaccurate in some respects to me. Or perhaps NPOV regarding technical details, depending on how you view it. Specifically, that it appeared to claim ownership of the database, implying that wowwiki was a copy, when mechanically the reverse is true regarding copying, and both forks hold the content equally as granted by the CC-BY-SA license.

While I respect the change you made regarding motivations for editing, I don't feel that motivation for editing really has a place in the article outside of the historical details mentioned. To that end, I removed "both sides" of that issue. Feel free to examine or modify the page again if you see fit. --Eirik Ratcatcher (talk) 23:20, 1 April 2011 (UTC)

Warlock page[]

Hey Fandyllic,

Nice to meet you. You left a post on my Talk page thanking me for some edits I did to warlock pages. Is there a page where I can find info about tags or whatever they're called with the "{" and "}" brackets (not the templates at the top but the tags at the end of a sentences.)

Thanks dude. Makeswell (talk) 00:23, 15 June 2011 (UTC)

Crediting your own contributions[]

I'm not sure I see the point of adding a {{WoWWiki credit}} template when you're essentially copying your own edits from WoWWiki to Wowpedia. To me, it seems like the purpose of the template is to credit the significant contributors to the article when their work is copied, but that's already covered by having your own name in our edit history. — foxlit (talk) 00:44, 1 June 2013 (UTC)

I have now removed the tag from that article per the above reasoning. — foxlit (talk) 15:00, 5 June 2013 (UTC)
