The Council of the Serpent is the second boss encounter of the the the Nazjatar Embassy wing of the Abyssal Maw. An elite group of naga soldiers, they stand guard at the pinnacle of the Nazjatar Embassy.

As a council boss, the battle with these four naga is hectic with many different abilities going on at once. The encounter tests the raid's response times to various harmful abilities, as well as boss positioning.

Dungeon Journal

Tharnalesh. Odra'ir. Jir'thara. Svessper. Within Queen Azshara's naga kingdoms, these names strike fear within the populace. These four master warriors, collectively called the Council of the Serpent, are some of the queen's greatest servants, often being sent to deal with problems that no average naga could resolve. As leaders of the naga forces in Vashj'ir, they represent Azshara's empire within the Abyssal Maw, vying to solidify an alliance with the Old Gods.

Abilities

Phase One: Attack as One! For Azshara!

Master Assassin Tharnalesh

•  VanishTharnalesh vanishes from the battlefield and cannot be targeted by spells or abilities.
•  Sap Tharnalesh instantly strikes a random player from stealth and disappears, applying Marked for Death and incapacitating them for five seconds.
  •  Marked for Death The afflicted player is Tharnalesh's prime target. After five seconds, Tharnalesh will decapitate the marked player.
    •  Decapitate Tharnalesh beheads his target and vanishes, dealing x Weapon damage. This attack cannot be avoided.

General Odra'ir

•  Mighty CleaveOdra'ir recklessly swings his weapon, damaging any nearby players for x Weapon damage.
•  Berserking Strikes Enraged, Odra'ir's attack speed is increased by 50% and suffers an additional 30% damage from all sources.

Priestess Svessper

• Holy PowerSevessper uses Holy Power as an additional resource to cast powerful abilities.
•  Holy Shock Svessper blasts a random player with searing light, dealing x Holy damage and an additional y Holy damage over six seconds. Generates one charge of Holy Power.
•  Flash Heal Svessper summons healing light onto an ally, restoring x damage. Generates one charge of Holy Power.
•  Potent Healing Stream When she has acquired three charges of Holy Power, Svessper ignores all players and begins to channel a healing spell onto General Odra'ir, healing x damage every three seconds and protecting him with Blessed Bulwark. Svessper will not stop channeling until Odra'ir's health is restored completely or she receives enough damage.
  •  Blessed BulwarkThe shielded target is protected from all enemy attacks and abilities. The shield is removed when Potent Healing Stream ends.
•  Holy NovaWhen she has acquired three charges of Holy Power, Svessper casts a pulse of damaging holy energy, dealing x Holy damage and applying False Divinity to any players within a y yard radius of her. Svessper only casts this ability once General Odra'ir has fallen.
  •  False DivinityThe amount of health restored by healing abilities is reduced by 75%.

Jir'thara the Illusionist

•  Will of the IllusionistJir'thara's detachment from mortal emotions makes her immune to taunts and threat.
•  Teleport Jir'thara targets one of her allies' current targets. After three seconds, she teleports to that player's location.
•  Aura of Empowerment Jir'thara's presence strengthens her allies, applying a stack of Empowerment every second on any ally within x yards of her.
  •  EmpowermentIncreases damage and haste by x%. This buff stacks.
•  Illusion Bolt Jir'thara fires a bolt of mystical energy to a random player, dealing x Arcane damage.
•  Strangling VortexJir'thara summons a torrent of corrupted arcane energy to a random area, dealing x Arcane damage in a radius of y yards and applying a stack of Strangling Confusion to all players caught in it every second.
  •  Strangling Confusion A pulsing headache deals x Arcane damage every second and increases damage taken by Arcane abilities by y per stack.

Phase Two: Now It's My Turn to Shine!

Once Odra'ir, Svessper, and Jir'thara have been defeated, Tharnalesh permanently uncloaks with new abilities. He retains none of his previous abilities.

•  Rash ArroganceTharnalesh's overconfidence increases his damage by 50%, but increases the damage he receives by 30%.
•  Stunning StrikesTharnalesh stuns a random player for seven seconds, dealing x Weapon damage over seven seconds.
•  Vial of PoisonTharnalesh throws a poison vial at a player, dealing x Nature damage and an additional y Nature damage over ten seconds. Any player standing within z yards of the targeted player will be afflicted with Degenerating Poison.
  •  Degenerating PoisonDeals x Nature damage over ten seconds. Any player standing within y yards of the afflicted player will also be afflicted with Degenerating Poison.
•  Fan of KnivesTharnalesh throws knives all around him, dealing x damage to all nearby players.
•  Assasinate Tharnlesh lunges to a random target, instantly killing them.
