The sha are creatures native to Pandaria. They are the physical manifestations of negative emotions like fear, hatred, and anger,[1] unleashed by the war brought to Pandaria between the Alliance and the Horde.[2] The reason the pandaren are such a calm, peaceful people is because negative emotions manifest as the sha.[3]
Unwary mortals can also become possessed by negative Sha energy, becoming embodiments of pure anger or fear.[1]
The Sha maintain a very big presence in the Dread Wastes, having possessed the Mantid Queen and most of her underlings, and the land itself became corrupted.
Types
The sha's strength is mostly determined by their size, the larger the manifestation the more powerful they have become. In World of Warcraft three models are used to represent them, lesser weak ones, medium strong ones, and large powerful ones. The latter are the 'main' sha aspects of negative emotions (excluding Sha of Despair, which currently appears as a lesser sha).
Notable
Notes
- Sha (煞, shā) is Chinese for "evil spirit".
- In Descent into Madness in Ulduar there are stained-glass windows that bear similarities to the design of the sha.
- The lesser sha is based on the Fleshbeast model, whereas the medium sha is based on the unbound elemental models.
