Mammoths are shaggy beasts that resemble elephants(or even elekks), such as having a trunk, and ear flaps. They live in Northrend and can be found in the Borean Tundra, the Dragonblight, Sholazar Basin and in Zul'Drak. With each passing day however, the numbers of those mighty beasts diminish as hunters slay the beasts for sport and riches. as a member of Hemet Nesingwary's hunting party is one of those hunters. After the ancient mammoth orders you to kill Kaw the mammoth of the Borean Tundra will no longer be hostile towards you.
Mammoths as Mounts

Mammoth mounts are Epic vanity mounts that were added in Wrath of the Lich King. Some can accommodate passengers, and they all (currently) have subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) shadings for each faction. You can also try out a mammoth mount for free during a D.E.H.T.A quest and deploy its devastating charge, trample, and bellow attacks.

The Mammoths in Warcraft III differ from those encounters in World of Warcraft. However they also live in Northrend and were capable of dealing frightening damage. In addition to their long tusks, a horny protrusion of bone juts from their foreheads and another protrudes from their backs.
- Mam'toth was the Loa god of mammoths for the Drakkari. When they tried to steal his power, he destroyed himself and all those around him, resulting in Mam'toth Crater.
- Emaciated Mammoth Calfs always follow an adult Emaciated Mammoth, sometimes however they get attacked by . The parent is obviously too hungry to care and will just leave the poor little fellow to its fate. If, however, you kill the Scavengers, the calf will be confused for a bit and then run straight back to its parent. s
- Injured Mammoths are periodically attacked by Magnataur Alphas that wander Dragonblight. The magnataur will normally win.
