Astranaar, aka Astrannar, [1] is a night elven town situated on the east-west road that divides Ashenvale in two. [36, 50]
Like the Redridge Mountains and Duskwood regions in the Eastern Kingdoms, Ashenvale is often attacked by Horde as it is one of the first-tier contested zones for the Alliance. However, the danger is two-fold since Ashenvale houses two Horde towns, one in the Zoram Strand and the other to the east at Splintertree Post. Exercise extreme caution around Astranaar. When questing, set your hearthstone to the inn whenever feasible in order to avoid having to dodge groups of Horde who like to gather a short distance away from the town in preparation to raid it. Since the Cataclysm, all Alliance players arriving into Astranaar for the first time will find it in flames, attacked by Horde wind riders. Completing Astranaar's Burning! and Return Fire will cause both to phase out.
